Block if desired. Makes them easier to line.

Cable Around Bag
With another color of yarn

1st row : (RS) k
2nd row : k3, p4, k3.
3rd row : k
4th row : k3, p4, k3
5th row : k3, C4B, k3.
6th row : k3, p4, k3.
Rep these 6 rows til measures about 30"
This length is long enough but not to long, when tied pulls in bag alittle.
Make 4 Pompoms attach to ends of. (Mine are about 1" pompoms)

Finishing Bag
If you choose to line bag, do so after all other pieces have been attached.
With wrong sides of bag facing each other, sew bottom of bag, then the sides up to the top of ribbing.
Attach handles, one on each side, button evenly spaced on top of where you attach the handles.
Attach small knitted pieces about 3" from side and 1" down from handle.
Pull Cable through loops and tie on one side.

Edging (Ruffles)(This is the only way I know how to explain using a crochet hook. I hope you can understand.

Attach yarn,
Chain 3,
Wrap yarn around needle,
Put needle through first stitch, pull through, (3 stitches on needle)
Wrap yarn around needle, pull through 2 loops on needle,
Wrap yarn around needle, pull through 2 loops on needle.
Chain 3,
Wrap yarn around, put needle through same stitch,
Pull through, ( 3 stitches on needle)
Wrap yarn around needle, pull through 2 loops on needle,
Wrap yarn around, pull through 2 loops on needle.
Cont. these steps to end of piece, do for both ends.
Cut yarn, pull end through last loop.

Finishing
Weave in ends.
Sew on buttons.

Pattern Instructions

Cuff :
Leaving a 6" - 10" cast on tail, (to tie mittens together when done) you can always cut it later, depending on how long you want it to be, I tied mine so that one side way longer than the other.

PM, Join for knitting in round.
2 X 2 Ribbing for 1"


Setting Up For Thumb :
Row 1 : Knit
Row 2 : K13, PM, M1, K1, M1, PM, K6.
Row 3 : Knit

Cut yarn, weave through remaining stitches.


Thumb :Place 7 stitches from holder on 3 DP needles evenly.
