Pattern Instructions
Leg
CO 52 (60, 64, 72, 76)
PM (one in the different color), join for knitting in rd.
2 X 2 ribbing for the length that you like. Mine is about 1".
Here is how to place cable pat.
You may place it anywhere you like but this is how you should do it if you choose to have one on each side of the sock. I usually just place a maker on each side of cable pat. so that I don't forget and then have to back track.
Sts in the ( ) are your instep sts.
use the st makers that are the same color here
You may divide your sts however you like on the DPNs, or you divid them 1 of 2 ways,
way 1 : divid your sts in half, then divide one set of those sts in half, see picture.
Say you CO 72
needle 1 half your sts (36 sts), needle 2 & 3 divid the other half of those sts ( needle 2 - 18 sts, needle 3 - 18 sts)

Gusset
One extra st is picked up along the selvedge in corner to avoid a hole. Or pick up as many as you would like so that there are no holes, you would just have to do a few extra dec. rds.
Rd 1 : With one needle, k across all heel sts, then pick up and knit 14, (16, 17, 19, 20) sts along selvedge edge of heel flap, with another needle, work across 26 (30, 32, 36, 38) held instep sts, with another needle, pick up and knit 14 (16, 17, 19, 20) sts along other side of heel flap, then k across the first 8 (9, 9, 10, 11) heel sts from first needle. Rd now begins at center back heel.
Rd 2 : On first needle knit to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1; on second needle k all instep sts, on third needle k1, ssk, k to end. (2 sts dec.)

You can also make the foot length as long as you would like.
